About NagatoPyon
I'm Saskia from Holland. My nickname is NagatoPyon, as you probably already know!
I discovered my love for Japan in 2007 after going on vacation there.
Returned each year after my first visit! Having studied Japanese at home, I made the leap to study the language in Japan for 6 months in 2011.
I'm geeky, a figure, manga and anime collector, doll(fie dream) owner, love karaoke, vlog about Japan and do silly dances on YouTube.
I also love cooking, photography and animals, especially rabbits.
That's me in a nutshell! If you want to read more..
There are many reasons why I fell in love with Japan. It all started off because games like Harvest Moon and Dance Dance Revolution and anime. The first anime I watched was Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu.
Decided to visit Japan because I wanted to know where all this stuff came from.
Since my first visit I discovered that Japan is so much more than just a great place to buy anime and games. I fell in love with the people, the good service in restaurants / at stations etc, the food, the traditional festivals, the beautiful nature but also of the skyscrapers in Tokyo.
Also the lack of criminality means you can walk alone at night (which is pretty dangerous to do if you're a woman in my country), you can leave your bag on your table in a restaurant if you visit the toilet, you can fall asleep in the train and your luggage will be still there, etc.
All this combined made me more fond of Japan than my own country.
Why Youtube
I started watching J-Pop dance video's a few years ago and became more and more eager to try it out myself. Good way to have fun and to get in contact with other people who have the same interests. At the same time, I saw an online article about having the chance to show your anime figure collection on tv in Japan. Had to upload a video of my room for that and in the end decided to make my own channel.
I made many online friends with whom I can share my passion for Japan, which made me even more enthusiastic about the whole online social networking things. So I started doing Twitter / Facebook etc. Even a second YouTube channel dedicated to Japan's modern culture (anime, games, cosplay etc), since people often asked about my figure collection etc.
