There is so much to see in Hakone that it’s recommended to stay at least one night to make sure you have enough time to see all the interesting spots. Gora Ichinoyu is a comfortable and cozy Ryokan (traditional Japanese inn), which will make your stay a pleasant experience. The staff speaks English, you can have your own private Onsen on the balcony of your room (outdoor bath with fresh Hot Spring water) and you can enjoy a traditional Japanese tatami room with futon for a very reasonable price. They also have public indoor baths (men and woman baths are separated), vending machines, a restaurant and a small souvenir shop.
The staff are very friendly and will help you if you have trouble finding your way around the area. The Ryokan offers all kind of meals (unfortunately no Vegetarian course available) for a good price, for which you have to make a reservation when booking your room. The Ryokan does not have that many rooms (which makes it nice and quiet), so make sure to make your reservation in advance. All the rooms have a stunning view over Hakone’s beautiful landscape.
Ichinoyu is a 10-15 minute walk from Gora station. They recommend you use a taxi. I used a taxi on my way to the Ryokan just to make sure I didn’t get lost and walked back to the station the next day.
