Hakone – Odawara Castle and Onshi Hakone Park
Hakone is surrounded by beautiful nature. These photos were made during my school trip to Odawara Castle and Onshi Hakone Park. Unfortunately it was raining, otherwise we could have seen mount Fuji. Odawara Castle is a beautiful castle with a long history to it. Entry fee is 400 yen. The top floor is an observatory which gives you a nice view of the surroundings. There is also a museum in the main keep, with an impressive collection of weapons, armor and artifacts.
The castle is open daily from 09:00 – 17:00 and is easy to reach in a 10 minute walk from JR Odawara Station. Official website (in Japanese): http://www.city.odawara.kanagawa.jp/kanko/odawaracastle/
Onshi Hakone Park is a gorgeous park along side Lake Ashi. It used to be an Imperial villa and was a place for the Emperor to relax and to entertain honored (foreign) guests. The park had many different trees and plants and is beautifully constructed.
Free entry. Official Onshi Hakone Park website (in English): http://www.kanagawa-park.or.jp/onsisite/pdf/onsi_english.pdf
