Yanaka Ginza – Edo Period Neighborhood

Yanaka Ginza (谷中ぎんざ) is a charming, traditional, shopping district in the center of Yanaka(谷中), Taito-ku, Tokyo. This shopping district has an atmosphere which brings you back to the Edo Period. There are about 70 shops which sell traditional house accessories, delicious food and more.

During holidays and weekend it can be crowded, but during regular days you can explore Yanaka Ginza on a relaxed pace. Make sure to try out all kind of traditional snacks, as the prices are pretty good compered to other shopping districts. You can also buy boxes filled with all kind of sweets to take home as a souvenir. After strolling around this lovely neighborhood, make sure to visit the Tennoji Temple as well.

Yanaka Ginza is a 5 minute walk from JR Nippori station (West Exit) or the Sendagi Tokyo Metro station (Exit 2).
